Fireworks spark Maysville fire

MAYSVILLE - A fire at a house in Maysville is being blamed on youngsters who were playing with fireworks.

Jackson County EMS spokesman Steve Nichols says Wednesday night'sfire was confined to the front porch of the house at 441 Highland Way.

He said the youngsters were apparently playing with the fireworks in the front yard when one of them landed on the porch, sparking the fire.

Nichols says there were no injuries.

He and others in his line of work are trying to get the word out about fireworks safety as we head toward the July 4 weekend and the sales and use of fireworks increase.
