NE Ga. county reaches deal for plastics plant

ELBERTON - Officials in Elbert County say a European plastics company plans to lease space in Elberton's industrial park in a move that could bring about 70 jobs to the northeast Georgia city.<br /> <br /> The Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman agreed on Wednesday to buy a $2 million building to house the company.<br /> <br /> An authority spokeswoman says company and authority officials will inspect the 130,000-square-foot structure in the industrial park off Georgia Highway 72 between Elberton and Athens before signing a lease agreement.<br /> <br /> Anna Jones, an economic developer with the authority, says the company plans to make plastic parts for cars. She says the company's name will be revealed after it signs a lease.
