2-week crackdown on unbuckled motorists, DUI

GAINESVILLE - With the July 4 holiday just around the corner, the Gainesville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies around the corner today are kicking off a campaign aimed at drunken drivers and motorists who are not using their seat belts.

Sgt. Dale Cash also emphasizes the importance of using a designated driver anytime there maybe a potential for attending events where alcoholic beverages may be consumed.

Dubbed Operation Zero Tolerance, the campaign will continue through July 4.

Sgt. Cash is also reminding pickup drivers that the new seat belt law that the governor signed a few days ago applies to them.
