CUMMING - A 14-year-old Forsyth County boy is being treated at an Atlanta hospital after being struck by lightning Tuesday night.

County spokesperson Jodi Gardner said the incident happened on Jot-em-down road around 7:30 p.m.

"A 14-year-old male and two friends had just finished riding motorbikes and were loading the motorbikes into the back of a truck when lightning struck nearby," she said.

Gardner said emergency personnel arrived within five minutes of receiving the 9-1-1 call and transported the teen to Northside Hospital Forsyth. He was later transferred to Scottish Rite, where he remains.

Authorities have not released his identity.
