JEFFERSON - After eliminating all accidental causes, the state Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's office has determined a fire that destroyed a parsonage belonging to a Jackson County church earlier this week was deliberately set.

The house belonged to Faith Baptist Church and was located at U.S. Highway 129 North. Commissioner John Oxendine said the 3,000 square foot wood-framed single-level structure, and two passenger vans also destroyed in the fire, were valued at $100,000.

Oxendine is asking anyone with information about this fire to call his Arson
Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Rewards of up to $10,000 are given for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist. Calls are taken 24 hours a day; callers can choose to remain anonymous.
