LAWRENCEVILLE - Several dozen Gwinnett County residents protested Satuday in downtown Lawrenceville... lashing out at county officials and a new trash plan that goes into effect July 1.

One county official - the commission chairman, Charles Bannister - showed up and was immediately confronted by a number of the protesters, according to 11 Alive News.

Under the new plan, trash pick-up is mandatory for all residents of un-incorporated Gwinnett County and they will be required to use a vendor approved by the county. The cost of the service - $17.86 a month - will be added to property tax bills.
