Soccer: Howard, Schmitt voted Coaches of the Year in 7-AAA

GAINESVILLE -- On the heels of guiding the Gainesville boys soccer team to its second state title in 2010, Rick Howard was voted the 2010 Region 7-AAA Boys Coach of the Year, as voted on by the region coaches.

The Elephants finished a perfect 19-0 and won the Class AAA title in dramatic fashion beating Woodard Academy 5-4 in penalty kicks for a 3-2 win.

For the girls, Creekview's Kerri Schmitt was named the Girls Region 7-AAA Coach of the year, as voted on by the region coaches. The Lady Grizzlies advanced to the Class AAA title game before falling to 5-0 to St. Pius.
