Gainesville cemetery candidate for historic register

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville cemetery may be listed on the National Register of Historic Places if they get help from area residents.

Alta Vista Cemetery Manager Vince Evans said state officials are asking for old photos of the cemetery as part of their review process. He said they're specifically looking for photos taken prior to 1950.

Evans said residents can send those photos to the cemetery office at 521 Jones Street where they will be copied and returned.
