Stephens County's Crawford signs with Brenau

TOCCOA -- Georgia High School All State player Raveen Crawford (Stephens County High School), has signed a letter of intent to play college basketball at Brenau University. Crawford was Region Eight 3A Player of the Year and was selected to the Region All Tournament team all four years. She was her team's MVP in her sophomore and senior seasons and finished up as the 4th leading all time scorer with 1301 points.<br />

In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Raveen was recently named "Student of the Year" by the faculty at Stephens County and will graduate with honors. She is the recipient of the "Sanders-Tatham" and "Prather-Wilson" scholarships and is a HOPE Scholar. Crawford was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society and received the "Fine Arts" seal for band.<br />

Legendary Stephens County coach Jerry Brown, who is retiring after 31 seasons, said "Brenau is getting a tremendous young lady who works very hard and I see her getting better and better over the next four years."<br />

Susan Carman, her Guidance Counselor and mentor said, "I don't have a girl, so Raveen has become a daughter to me. She is so hardworking and dedicated and has excelled in basketball and in life."<br />

Brenau Coach Gary Bays had this to say about his newest recruit, "Raveen brings all the credentials you are looking for, both in the classroom and on the court. This is a very big deal for us as we rebuild for the future after the loss of our big senior class.
