Starting Monday, May 17, police agencies in Georgia will begin the annual "100 Days of Summer Heat" campaign.
It will specifically target aggressive driving and speeding, which go up in the summer months, according to Gainesville Police Sergeant Dale Cash.
"Folks just, I guess, feel a little more energy and forget sometimes what the speed limits are," said Cash.
Cash noted that the campaign doesn't represent an increase in traffic enforcement, since the city of Gainesville is serious year-round about traffic safety; he says it's more of an awareness campaign.
"Its goal and aim is to reduce agressive driving and speeding violations from mid-May to Labor Day," said Cash.
The campaign will coincide with a couple of other national projects.
Click It or Ticket will raise awareness about seatbelt and child-restraint usage while Operation Zero Tolerance looks to crack down on impaired driving.
