Raymond King served most recently as SunTrust's senior vice president of community affairs. Zoo officials said Thursday he'll start work at the zoo on June 1.
The 44-year-old King replaces Dennis Kelly, who left earlier this year to head the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
King is a lifelong Atlanta resident who attended Georgia Tech.
King says he wants to increase attendance and raise more money locally for the zoo.
