5 school districts to be investigated for cheating

ATLANTA - Eleven educators from five Georgia school districts will be investigated as part of a massive statewide probe into possible cheating on standardized tests last year.

Kathleen Mathers with the Governor's Office of Student Achievement told the state Board of Education on Wednesday that about half of the 34 districts cited in a report released in February have been cleared.

The report showed that there was possible cheating on standardized tests in about 20 percent of Georgia elementary and middle schools last spring.

The educators from the five districts could lose their teaching licenses if they are found guilty of cheating.

Mathers did not say what districts are involved.
