Brief disturbance at RYDC

GAINESVILLE - Things quickly returned to normal Monday morning at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville following a disturbance involving "12-to-15" detainees.

Steve Hayes, a spokesman for the state Department of Juvenile Justice, said Gainesville police were called to assist RYDC personnel after those involved in the fight refused orders to return to their dorm rooms. They were in class at the on-site school at the time of the fight.

Hayes one worker was slightly injured when she fell while trying to control the youngsters involved in the incident.
