PEACHTREE CITY - The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north and central Georgia... generally along and north
of a line from Hamilton to Forsyth and Washington (including Gainesville and surrounding areas and all of northeast Georgia.

* widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are still expected...
with isolated higher amounts between 4 and 5 inches possible. These
amounts will likely cause minor to moderate flooding on some creeks
and rivers... with flash flooding on smaller creeks in the
mountainous and urban areas of north Georgia also possible. Areas
of northwest Georgia have already received 1 to 2 inches of rain
overnight with rain still falling. This will continue to shift
south and east across north and parts of central Georgia through
this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action should flash flood warnings be issued.

FLOOD WARNINGS

Forecasters are keeping a close watch on streams, creeks and rivers within the watch area. The National Weather Service has issued river flood warnings for the Alcovy River in Lawrenceville and the Suwanee River in Suwanee. At this point, forecasters anticipate minor flooding along both rivers.
