Local company recycles for the cure

UNDATED - It's not every day that you see a pink garbage truck, but Red Oak Sanitation has a good reason for the unusual paint job on part of its fleet.

Aron Dunn with Red Oak Sanitation says the company has decided it will donate all proceeds from its recyclables to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research and awareness. So, all of the company's recycling trucks are now sporting pink paint - complete with a large pink ribbon - to promote awareness, as well.

"You know, cancer is a disease that touches nearly everyone," noted Dunn.

He said that the ownership of Red Oak believed that the company s recycling program, which has recently been through an overhaul in order to reduce the amount of waste being dumped into landfills, could help local communities even more.

"We're hoping to donate at least $100,000 per year to the American Cancer Society...that's our goal," said Dunn.

He said the promotion will continue indefinitely.

Red Oak Sanitation serves customers in Hall, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
