MILLEDGEVILLE - Officials at Georgia College and State University have arrested a knife-wielding man who led to a residence hall lockdown this afternoon.

Spokeswoman Judy Bailey said, Justin David McTiernan, 19, of Roswell was arrested at 5 p.m. about two blocks from the residence hall. He took police to a nearby tennis court where officers recovered a knife.

David Preston Jenkins, 18, of Thomson also was arrested about 5:30 p.m. and taken to Milledgeville Police station.

Charges are pending against both students.

Authorities got a report of a man carrying what was believed to be a knife at Parkhurst Residence Hall around 4:40 p.m.

She says the school placed the building on lockdown while authorities search room to room. They eventually found the man in a nearby student lounge.

About 300 men and women live in the hall.

There were no early reports of injuries and Bailey says it's unclear who first spotted the man.
