Gainesville budget hearings on hold

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council takes a break from budget hearings today... one day after they opened with a proposed budget that includes a 2-and-a-half percent tax hike.

The council will still be getting together today, however, for a regularly scheduled meeting which begins at 9:00 at the Georgia Mountains Center.

The budget hearings resume tomorrow at 1:30 in the city manager's conference room.

Budget proposals from Public Land & Buildings, Public Works Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Street Maintenance, the Cemetery Department, Cemetery Trust Fund, Airport Fund, Solid Waste Fund and Vehicle Services are scheduled to be presented.
