UNDATED - Was it a tornado that damaged several homes and knocked down a major power transmission line Thursday in Morgan County?

The National Weather Service is expected to investigate Friday. Morgan County fire chief Chris Bird says it's a big mess.

"We had some straight-line winds or some (tornado) activity," Bird told the Georgia News Network.

Nobody was hurt, but Georgia Power crews spent much of Thursday night trying to clean up a collapsed 100-foot tall transmission tower near Bostwick.

In south Georgia's Calhoun county, storms damaged trees, powerlines, and buildings. Some farm buildings were blown down on Deer Run Plantation. Damage estimates are around $300,000.
