CORNELIA - Community Bank & Trust says its Oakwood Wal-Mart branch is not among those that will be closing in late May.

AccessNorthGa.com erroneously reported Friday morning that it would be closed.

CB&T says the Hall County branches that closing are in the Oakwood Kroger and the Spout Springs (Flowery Branch) Kroger. The Oakwood Wal-Mart location will remain open.

Community Bank & Trust says the 10 branches that are closing are its lowest-performing northeast Georgia branches and they are being closed as the bank tries to improve its financial situation.

Most of the branches are in grocery stores. In addition to the ones in Oakwood and Flowery Branch, offices in Bethlehem, Maysville, Auburn, Jefferson, Cleveland, Clayton, Dillard, and Toccoa are also closing.

CB&T's decision to close the branches came two months after state and federal banking regulators shut down the bank and sold it to South Carolina Bank & Trust of Orangeburg, S.C.

SCBT reopened the bank and its 36 branches on Feb. 1, still under the name CB&T.
