Boys tennis: Chestatee blanks Pickens

The Chestatee boys tennis team improved to 4-3 in Region 7A-AAA with a 5-0 sweep of Pickens Tuesday.

The War Eagles did not drop a set in earning the win.

In singles, Jonathan Cook beat Mitchell Ball, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 while Jeremiah Reed knocked off Dean Spedale, 7-6, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Ben Hassler whipped Josh Harris, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Brantley Beck and Pearce Gruenenfelder beat Evan Pierce and Sam Dotson, 6-4, 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Blaine Brown and Reese Smith whipped Josh Chambers and Jake Everett, 6-1, 6-0 to complete the sweep.

Chestatee next will play host Gilmer County Wednesday.
