UNDATED - Two of six Democrats in the Georgia congressional delegation voted "no" Sunday night as the House approved the health care overhaul bill.

The vote was 219-212 with not a single Republican voting for the measure. (See separate story.)

Among members of the Georgia delegation, all seven Republicans voted "no" as did Democrats John Barrow and Jim Marshall.

One of the Democrats who did vote for the bill was John Lewis of Atlanta who addressed fellow house members during the daylong debate on the measure.

"There are those that have told us to wait," Lewis said. "They told us to be patient. We cannot wait. We cannot be patient. The American people need health care and they need it now."

The head of the 9th Congressional District Republican Party said Sunday night he is disappointed about what has transpired with the bill.

"I don't think it was the right bill," Doug Grammer said. "I think there are other things we could have done that would have been better, that would have been more bi-partisan..."

Grammer added, however, he is happy that there is already a plan to challenge the constitutionality of the bill.

"...over half the states will file cases, file federal cases, on the health care bill to keep it from being enacted because they feel it is unconstitutional ."

Efforts to reach the head of the Democratic Party in the 9th District, Margaret Ball, were unsuccessful Sunday night.
