Southside neighborhood petitioning for sidewalks

GAINESVILLE - Public safety is at issue says a group of south Gainesville residents who want sidewalks in their area.

They have launched a petition drive and plan to be at next Monday's Hall County Commission work session to make their case known.

The neigbhorhood in question includes Old Athens and Floyd roads and Brown Street.

Flyers are being distributed in the neighborhood proclaiming "Let your voice be heard! We ask all residents of Hall County who are concerned about promoting public safety and eliminating hazardous walking conditions in this area to sign a petition requesting funding from Hall County Board of Commissioners to install and maintain a network of public sidewalks on Old Athens Road, Floyd Road and Brown Street."

Organizers say there are two locations where petitions can be picked up or signed:
