FLOWERY BRANCH - Several people were hurt and both southbound lanes of I-985 at Friendship Road closed for about an hour around midday Monday because of a two-vehicle wreck.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the accident involved a box-type truck and a late model SUV near the Friendship Road underpass. The truck was over on its side, the entire front of it caved in from the collision with the SUV.

The SUV's left rear fender was heavily damaged; the wreck halted southbound traffic on the Interstate for over an hour until the mangled vehicles were moved off the roadway.

Several people have been taken to the hospital but none of the injuries appeared critical, according to Kimbrell.
