Q&A: 27 years in, Jefferson's DuBose enjoying latest ride

While the Jefferson girls basketball team has enjoyed tremendous postseason success this past decade, winning one state title and playing for another, amazingly enough the Jefferson boys -- who have posted 18 or more wins in 10 of the past 11 years -- have not made the trek to the Final Four in Macon since 1983.

In 27 years at the helm of the Dragons, coach Bolling DuBose has sent 14 teams to the state playoffs, including eight of the past nine seasons, and has enjoyed plenty of success. On Thursday, DuBose and the Dragons will get another taste of the Final Four when they take on No. 4 Thomasville in the Class AA semifinals at the Macon Centreplex. Jefferson comes into the game 25-6 and riding an 18-game winning streak and has not lost to a Class AA team all season. Thomasville (23-4) has won 16 of its last 18 overall.

On Sunday, Access North Georgia sports writer Jeff Hart talked with DuBose and discussed his current team, past successes and failures, what it means to the school, community, and himself, as well as what it will take to get that shot at a state title.
