Northern Arc apparently back and so is the opposition

ATLANTA - The north Georgia road that seems to have as many lives as a cat is apparently back.

The state Department of Transportation has revised plans for the Northern Arc, which would connect I-75 with I-85, just south of the Hall-Gwinnett county line.

And, the Northern Arc Task Force has reformed, and says it will, once again, stop the state from ever going-through with the project. Chairman Jeff Anderson says the task force is ready to use all its resources to stop the Northern Arc again.

The the task force is releasing an open letter from its chairman which is being published in seven north Georgia newspapers.

The letter discusses the way in which GDOT has taken incremental steps to quietly keep the Northern Arc alive in spite of overwhelming public opposition.

The latest such move - according to Anderson - involves the selection of a route for the highway 411 Connector which will link Rome with I-75 and "has all the look of a western leg to the Northern Arc," according to Anderson.
