Authorities say 46-year-old Barry Bailey, of Hull, was jailed Thursday after an online chatting session with an undercover investigator.
Police and school system officials said the offenses don't involve a school computer or local children and didn't happen during the school day.
Shawn Burns, chief deputy of the Madison County Sheriff's Department, said there was no evidence that Bailey created the photos or videos involving children that were on his computer.
Bailey has taught physical education at Ila Elementary since August 2001. Also Thursday, the FBI arrested 41-year-old Hall County school bus driver John Spinks on federal charges related to the receipt, possession and distribution of child pornography.
