Colleges ordered to slash budgets by $300M

UNDATED - Public colleges and universities in Georgia Thursday were ordered to cut their proposed FY2011 budgets by $300 million.

That includes a $4.2 million reduction at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega.

Errol Davis, chancellor of the University System of Georgia (USG), instructed all USG presidents, through a conference call Thursday morning, to immediately identify cuts to reduce the USGâ
“While we hope to protect our academic and service missions, a cut of this magnitude will be devastating to our campus and the community,” said Dr. David Potter, president of North Georgia.
