That would raise tuition at four-year institutions such as Georgia Tech and UGA to more than $10,000 a year; to more than $6,700d a year at other four-year colleges; and, over $4,000 annually at two-year schools.
University System Chancellor Erroll Davis discussed the tuition increase proposal with legsilative budget writers Wednesday during a sometimes lively face-off. Some of the lawmakers suggested salary cuts for college and university personnel in lieu of such tuition hikes.
