ATHENS -- The University of Georgia Athletic Association will spend $23.3 million on renovations at Stegeman Coliseum and Reed Alley, next to Sanford Stadium.

Campus Architect Danny Sniff says the changes will change the looks of those parts of the campus.

At Stegeman, giant glass walls will reach up to the overhanging parabolic roof of the building. The glass walls will give the building a more modern look and will add about 12,000 square feet to the concourse area.

Workers also will improve fire safety, add restrooms, renovate the old ones and revamp concession areas.

Sniff said the Reed Alley work should be completed by the beginning of football season. The makeover will give fans an extra 45,000 square feet of space, new restrooms stalls and expanded areas for concession sales.
