Girls basketball: No. 1 Buford falls to team from Tennessee

DULUTH -- The Riverdale (Tenn.) girls did what no other team in Georgia has been able to do thus far: stop Class AA two-time defending state champion Buford.

The Lady Wolves dropped their first game of the season 42-38 to Riverdale in the Peach State Christmas tournament at Duluth High School.

Kaela Davis had 13 points while Andraya Carter added nine for the Lady Wolves (7-1).

Buford had a slim 23-21 lead at halftime, but Riverdale used an 11-5 third quarter run to grab the lead and never trailed again.
