Trial date set in church burning

WINDER - A trial date has been set for the former pastor of a Barrow County church, who, along with is son, is charged with arson in the burning of the church five years ago.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that Quincy Arnold and his son Maurice are scheduled to go on trial in March in Barrow County Superior Court.

The pair is alleged to have torched the church in a scheme to collect insurance money.

Bruce Smith of Monroe pleaded guilty earlier this year to his part in setting the fire after a plea bargain with the state. Smith has reportedly been helping prosecutors build their case against the Arnolds.
