Lanierland: Lakeview boys nip Chestatee

OAKWOOD -- The Lakeview Academy boys rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to nip Chestatee 71-70 Wednesday in the consolation round of the Lanierland Tournament.

The key for the Lions (4-7) was hitting 9-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter while Chestatee was just 7-of-17 from the free throw line in the final period.

Chestatee opened the game strong running out to a 16-8 lead behind the shooting of Cole Morgan. The war Eagles extended the lead to 34-23 by halftime.

But Lakeview's Jackson Wells took control inside and led the charge with eight points in the third quarter to pull the Lions within 47-40 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lions outscored Chestatee 31-23 in the final period to pull out the win.

Austin Pearson finished with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Lakeview. Wells finished with 18 points and Nick Drury and Austin Montgomery each had 11 points for the Lions.

Cole Morgan had a game-high 29 points to pace Chestatee. Kelley Arthur had nine points, and Lucas Bennett eight points for the War Eagles.
