WINDER - Brenau University Chaplain Don Harrison celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination into the priesthood Sunday at St. Anthony's Episcopal Church in Winder following the 10 a.m. service.

Harrison is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Emory University. He was ordained in Atlanta following his graduation from seminary at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

Harrison came to Gainesville as pastor of Grace Episcopal Church, which attracts many Brenau students, faculty and members of the Brenau family because of its proximity to the Gainesville campus. He joined the Brenau staff in September 2006.

In addition to counseling and attending to spiritual needs of students, faculty and staff, and serving as adviser to the student-led Servant-Leader program, Harrison occasionally teaches some of the most popular Brenau University Learning and Leisure Institute (BULLI) courses on church and religious history and philosophy.
