Brenau swimmer recognized by conference

GAINESVILLE -- Brenau University freshman Lisa Portwood (from Marietta) has been named female swimmer of the week by the Appalachian Swimming Conference for the week of Dec. 13-17.

Portwood competed at the SCAD Invitational and broke all personal best times including: 200 free (1:59.53), 500 free (5:17.95), 200 IM (2:17.72), 400 IM (4:48.01) and 100 back split (1:04.4).

Lisa competed in the consolation and final heats in the evenings placing 6th(500 free), 9th(200 IM), 9TH(400 IM) and 10th (200 free). She has yet to swim a meet where she does not shave time off an event and is now qualified for seven events at the NAIA National Championships.

"This award recognizes not only Lisa's outstanding achievements at the SCAD Invitational, but shows that she has performed at a competitive level that her peers want to recognize within our conference." coach Blaire Bachman said. "We are proud to have here as a Brenau Golden Tiger."
