Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell says the fire was in the 9100 block of Skitts Mountain Drive and occurred about 9:45.
He says firefighters arrived to find the 14-by-70 dwelling about 80 precent involved in flames. The occupant said he had returned from an errand to find the living room area on fire.
Kimbrell said investigators found that a sofa had been left too closed to a wall heater and had caught fire.
