GAINESVILLE - No one was injured in a couple of early morning fires Monday in Gainesville.

Gainesville Fire Chief Jon Canada says the house fire was in the 900 block of Green Street Circle and occurred about 5:30. He says the fire was contained to the chimney and crawl space areas. When firefighters arrived, Chief Canada said they found light smoke coming from the house and quickly brought the fire under control.

He adds the people who were in the house had already gotten outside by the time firefighters arrived.

Canada says the other fire consumed a pickup on Green Street near E.E. Butler Parkway about 6:45. He said it took about 30-40 minutes to clear that scene and that Green Street was shut down for a time. He says the driver reported he noticed smoke coming from under his dashboard and hood before the truck when up in flames.
