Five arrested in Oakwood burglary

OAKWOOD - Five people are in custody following a home invasion and burglary on Windy Hill Circle just off Whiting Road in Hall County.

The break-in happened around 9:25 a.m. when a homeowner spotted suspicious activity in the yard of her home and called authorities.

"While she was talking to the 9-1-1 operator, her sliding glass door was broken," said Hall County Sheriff's Colonel Jeff Strickland. "She did retreat and hide in the restroom."

Deputies were able to arrest a woman at the scene, but four other suspects fled from the house. After an hour-long search using tracking dogs and a Georgia State Patrol helicopter, the four other suspects, all teenagers, were arrested walking along a sewer line near Free Chapel Worship Center on McEver Road.

Strickland said jewelry from the home also has been recovered, along with a vehicle authorities believe was used by the suspects.

Arrested were two Hispanic Juveniles, one 14 year old male one 15 year old male, both of Gainesville Ga.

Also arrested was 17 year old David Olivas, 18 year old, Aida Rodriguez, 17 year old, Arlet Ramirez all of Gainesville, Ga.

The Juveniles were transported to RYDC in Gainesville and the adults are being held without bond at the Hall County Jail.

No one was injured during this incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigation Division.
