The Tigers scored 49 points after halftime to pull away from a 32-27 lead. Freshman point guard Brittney Wiley scored 15 points along with three rebounds and three assists while battling low back pain.
Two other Brenau players finished in double figures, with freshman Tala Black scoring 13 and Sophomore Nikki Reed totaling 11 to go with five rebounds. Sophomore Gabby Harvey picked up 11 rebounds and Freshman Raveen Crawford had seven to help Brenau win the battle on the boards, 43-36.
The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field while holding the Hornets to 19-56 34 percent shooting and had one of their better nights from the free throw line, hitting 23 of 30. Brenau only managed to hit 2-12 from behind the arc for the night.
"We are so young and inexperienced and we're still learning how to play together," said Coach Gary Bays. "I was proud of the way we came out the second half and took control of the game. As has been the case in every game, our depth is the key to our success."
Brenau will head to Mobile, Ala., this weekend for a pair of games against new SSAC members, Spring Hill and Mobile.
