GAINESVILLE - The Hall County School Superintendent says he has no interest in a job in the administration of incoming state School Supt. John Barge.

"Absolutely not," Will Schofield said Thursday, while discussing his role as transition committee chairman for Barge, a former principal in the Hall County School System. "Until these gentlemen who sit on the Hall County Board of Education give me some walking papers and tell me to go somewhere else, Hall County is home."

Schofield also said he has not been offered a job in the new administration.

Schofield added "I have no interest in commuting to Atlanta. I appreciate the folks who do but I am certainly (don't want to become one of them)."

Schofield said his direct involvement with the new administration ends January 10 when Barge takes office. He said his work on the transition committee will mostly entail "helping John make connections with key public educators across the state."
