With just one area football team left alive in the postseason, basketball will begin to come to the forefront this week.

Buford will look to reach its fourth straight state championship game this week in a Class AA semifinal showdown with Lovett at Tom Riden Stadium.

The Wolves (12-1) pushed past Cook 21-14 on Friday night in the quarterfinal round. Buford led for much of the contest, pulling out of a 7-7 halftime score with 14 straight points.

This week's battle with the Lions (10-3) will be broadcast live on WDUN AM 550 and FM 102.9.

The Wolves defeated Lovett 37-14 in Region 6-AA play on Sept. 24 and have are 2-0 against the Lions in the postseason -- including a 50-0 win over their rivals in the 2007 Class AA championship game.
