Gainesville man sets tire toss world record

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville man, Greg Cochran, recently set a world record by flipping a giant earth-mover tire, weighing 555 pounds, for one hour.

Cochran flipped the tire 203 times at Tire Toss 2010 which was held at Carriage Kia on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.

Proceeds from the event, which lasted for three hours and also featfrom 11am-2pm and hosted kids' activities, live music, and food. Proceeds will benefit First United Methodist Church's Urban Ministry: Baker Glover Home for Children.

Sponsors of the event included Fitness Forum, Texas Roadhouse, Carriage Kia, Fit2Tri, Helton Graphics and North Hall Tire & Wheel. Cochran's training apparel was provided by the Reebok outlet of Dawsonville.
