Gainesville's Community Thanksgiving serves 400+

GAINESVILLE - The first Community Thanksgiving in Gainesville fed more than 400 people Thursday.

One of the organizers, Troy Phillips, said 285 people showed up Thursday afternoon at the Masonic Lodge on Dawsonville Highway for the feast and another 150 plates were delivered to other locations.

Eighty-five volunteers help serve 240 pounds of turkey, more than 50 pounds of chicken and more than 100 pounds of hot dogs. In addition, there over a dozen side items included along with puddings, cakes, cookies and ten different kinds of pie.

85 volunteers who showed up to help. some sporting Al Gainey Show (WDUN NEWS TALK 550) T-shirts. Gainey was among those who help promote the event.
285 people were fed at the Gainesville Masonic Lodge.
150 meals were delivered to people in other locations around town.
