GAINESVILLE - A grading contract has been awarded to a Banks County company by the Hall County Commission for site work on Cool Springs Park on Cool Springs Road, despite reservations expressed earlier this week by two commissioners.

On Monday, commission chairman Tom Oliver and Bobby Banks pushed for giving the job to a Hall County company, Simpson Grading, whose bid was second-lowest.

But, Banks and Oliver Thursday night joined Billy Powell in voting to award the contract - totaling $737,340 - to Charles Sullivan Construction, Inc. Ashley Bell voted "no" and Steve Gailey was not at the meeting.

The park property was donated to Hall County by Cool Springs LLC.

The major aspects of it are two soccer fields, four outdoor basketball courts, three baseball fields, skate park, BMX track, two miles of bike trails, restroom/concession facilities and a one-mile paved walking trail. The park will be developed with SPLOST
