BRASELTON - The annual lighting of the tree and movie in the park usher in the holidays in downtown Braselton on Saturday.

A gala program is set for the tree lighting hosted by the Braselton Rotary Club, the Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority and The Paper. Featured will be the handbell choir of Galilee Christian Church, solos by Dawn DeWitt, a luminary event honoring Relay for Life and the vocal choir of New Liberty Church. Held in the historic downtown in front of the Braselton Antique Mall, the event begins at 5:00 PM and is free to the public. Door prizes will be given during the two-hour ceremony.

Following the tree lighting gala, "A Christmas Story" is presented in the Braselton Park. The 94-minute family-comedy film is rated PG and stars Melinda Dillon and Darren McGavin. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.

"This is a terrific collaboration of talents," said Braselton Town Manager Jennifer Dees, "and an incredible experience for families. It is an honor to partner with so many people to bring these events to the town and to experience highlights of the holiday season."

All events are free and open to the public.
