The Bistro at the Oaks will begin serving lunch each Thursday and Friday starting Friday, featuring four-course meals prepared by the advanced culinary students at The Oaks at Lanier Charter Career Academy on Tumbling Creek Road in the Chicopee area. The meals are prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Dara Lavalee.
The opening day menu will feature Chicken in Puff Pastry or Beef Medallions, served with a choice of house salad or wild mushroom soup, and accompanied by the Bistro's rosemary rolls. All meals are served with a small dessert.
The culinary students will also offer a Thanksgiving menu on November 18-19 with traditional holiday foods.
Lunch at the Bistro will be served on Thursdays and Fridays only, with seating from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Reservations are preferred, but not required, and can be made by emailing ([email protected]) or by calling 770-532-3161.
"Lunch at the Bistro is a fine-dining experience, but on a budget," says Erica Thrasher, a Culinary High student from Johnson High School. Erica takes culinary courses at the Charter Career Academy and plans to attend Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute when she graduates this year.
The Oaks at Lanier Charter Career Academy features other student-operated businesses which are open to the public.
The Corner Café is open 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, serving specialty coffees, Panera Bread pastries, wraps, salads, and pizzas. Get Gifted offers gift items and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Design360 is a personalized promotions lab designing tee-shirts, embroidered items, sublimation products, and vinyl signage products. Meetings & Events operates a full-service conference facility and event and tour planning agency. Meetings & Events can plan business and civic meetings as well as tours and events in the local area.
