GAINESVILLE - The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) will hold its national convention in Atlanta this week and has a number of pre-convention activities lined up Thursday, including visits to three Hall County schools.

Equipping students for the 21st Century will be the title of the presentations the visitors will hear.

The first stop will be the World Language Academy (WLA), a public charter school (preK-5) that immerses children in Spanish and English, with additional instruction in Mandarin Chinese.

The next stop will be the Da Vinci Academy (grades 6-8) where middle school students who are passionate about art, science, and technology earn high school credit and taking college courses.

The tour will conclude with a visit to West Hall High School's (grades 11-12) International Baccalaureate (IB) Program where teachers identify gifted and high-achieving native Spanish speakers and place them in AP Spanish, Honors Classes and then their International Baccalaureate Bilingual Program.

The NAGC convention begins Thursday, Nov.11 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Georgia World Congress Center.
