GSB addressing graduation complaints

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville School Board heard a plan Monday night which addresses some of the complaints aired about how high school graduation was handled this year.

GHS Principal Chris Mance said each of the 273 graduates expected to receive diplomas next year will be issued eight tickets which they may distribute as they wish. Overflow seating will be available in the Performing Arts Center where a video simulcast of the ceremony, which will be held in the high school gym, will take place.

Mance added that there will be an enhanced sound system in place before graduation on May 20, 2011, and that additional handicapped parking spaces will be provided. In addition, a shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from a remote parking site.

More detailed information will be released later in the school year.
