UNDATED - Athens and Dahlonega are among four Georgia cities seeking to lure the Georgia Music Hall of Fame from Macon.

In addition, a Fulton County commissioner hopes to lure both the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, also in Macon, to Atlanta.

Both have struggled to draw visitors and have relied heavily on taxpayer support.

Commissioner Robb Pitts says bringing both museums to Atlanta would make them more successful, putting them closer to the city's busy Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and other tourist attractions that are already thriving.
Macon is about two hours south of Atlanta.

In addition to Dahlonega and Athens, Dunwoody and Woodstock also had representatives at a meeting earlier this month at which moving the Georgia Music Hall of Fame was explored, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which also reports Atlanta did not send a representative to the meeting.
