Softball playoffs: Union splits in AA; Habersham out in AAAA

BLAIRSVILLE - Union County's 23-game win streak came to an end Wednesday in the second round of the Class AA girls softball playoffs.

The Lady Panthers lost Game 1 of their best-of-three series 3-1 to 2009 state-runner Rockmart. But Union County (27-2-1) pushed to the series to a deciding third game after rallying to beat Rockmart 4-0 in Game 2.

The two teams will meet at 5 p.m. at Union County in Game 3. The winner advances to the Elite 8 in Columbus next week.

Unfortunately for Habersham Central, the Lady Raiders' first foray into the playoffs came to an end Wednesday after being swept by No. 2-ranked Creekview in the Class AAAA playoffs.

Creekview was domiante in holding Habersham to just two toal runs in taking 2-1 and 10-1 wins. Habersham finished the season at 20-10.
