OAKWOOD -- Johnson fell behind 28-0, rallied to tie the game at 35-35, but could not get the lead in taking a heartbreaking 42-35 loss to Walnut Grove on Friday night in Region 8B-AAA action.

Walnut Grove, which got its first-ever varsity victory, did most of its damage on the ground with 309 yards rushing. However, the game-winning score came on a 45-yard pass with 1:30 left in the game.

Johnson had a chance to send the game to overtime, but the Warriors (1-6, 1-2 Region 8B-AAA) picked off a Luke Gilleland pass in the final moments to preserve the win.

Cedric Harris had another big game for the Knights (1-6, 1-2) with 123 yards rushing and three touchdowns on runs of 20, 4, and 10 yards. Christian Dixon, however, had the biggest run of the night at the time for Johnson with a 24-yard run to tie the game at 35-35 with three minutes left following a Walnut Grove turnover.

Johnson will look to bounce back on Friday at home against Oconee County.
